‘I joined FWC when my partner was in Afghan and I was in a pretty rubbish place, hundreds of miles from home, kids away at school and honestly the loneliest I’ve ever felt. Fast forward I have met an insane group of women and a year ago I stood on top of the world’s highest free standing mountain with a group of them, the fact it was world mental health day makes it that extra bit poignant.’ 

‘Meeting more wives in similar positions. Increased sense of ‘belonging’ as currently live off post with little/no contact with my husband’s unit. Feeling a sense of support from the military ‘family’ during a long deployment. Taking part in something fun with similar minded people.’

‘I wanted to meet people and gain confidence. There are lots of lovely ladies on the patch but most have children so I don’t engage in a lot of the activities as they are child focused. I definitely achieved my goals.’

‘Feel involved in something. Do something for me so the kids can see mummy can do it too not just daddy.’
